The Best of (the old) Matera's Madhouse and then some...
Welcome to the Paleolithic. I am Matera the Mad, headperson of Roadkill Camp.
After a long period of scribbling fits and starts during which nothing worth reading ever got finished, I got rolling with - ACK! - fan fiction. I had enjoyed reading Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children™ series (though I am rather sick of it now), and I enjoy writing parodies. Hence Roadkill Camp Tales. The beginning of this series of utterly ghastly short stories and novels was originally posted at the AuelBoard at ECfans.com (which I am also sick of), in a thread entitled "Matera's Madhouse." (I have recycled that title for my LiveJournal blog.)
Most of it is rough and unedited by my standards. It was all written for fun. The "real" fan-fics, non-parody extensions of the lives of Durc and Frebec, served to loosen me up when I got hung on other writing projects.
Some original characters developed in the later novel-length parodies have gone on to live their own lives. I have removed the stories in which they were "born" and grew.

Dead Sentences ~ a Nick Wortschatz mystery
Your roving critic throws some light on what makes writers do what they do...or at any rate, on what they do. This is not fan-fic, although it has the flavor of a classic mystery story. It was inspired by some very bad writing.Character Assassination ~ another tale of writing gone awry. The working title was "Who Killed Mary Sue" -- draw thine own conclusions.

The funny thing is, some character in Poland was direct-linking to this picture--for his avatar in a dreadful kiddies' gaming/geeking forum. I LARTed him, then leechproofed a bit.
I am not happy about having to deny my visitors some privileges they once had (and most probably didn't know about), but kozik waltzed in here and behaved like a bratty asshole. I can't waste time dealing with dorks.
Remember, boys and grills, bandwidth theft is a crime punishable by embarrassment. The picture you link to today could turn very weird tomorrow.

Best viewed in whatever browser you prefer. However, IMHO IE sux maximally, Netscape sux about as much, Opera is pretty but loads too slow and zooms too ugly, Firefox and its siblings are great but... only K-Meleon truly rules. ;-)
