Fire From The Sky
Bobby ~ Online validator that checks your webpage for accessibility. Don't think that's important? Read the friendly information.
There are two kinds of people building websites: those who care about content, and those who are content not to care.
Nvu ~ It doesn't get better than this (until a newer version is released LOL). Pronounce it N-view, and work on your previously constructed pages without f*cking up the code (at least not the basics), or start from scratch. This is the primo free WYSIWYG editor. It understands CSS, unlike any Micro$oft crud, better than any other wyzzie, and it's completely free. Very user-friendly, extensive help material.
Unfortunately, Nvu has a few awkward bugs. It makes extra empty lines no matter what, and there are a few things that can't be configured very wello if at all. But it is well on the way and beats the hell out of F***Page.
Another good thing is
Xstandard. Even though it is available free only as a demo and is a pain in some ways, a lot can be done with it. It is possible to convert blah code (pasted in) to good XHTML and copy it out to paste into your friendly text editor.

Son Of Spy ~ An old favorite. One heck of a list of useful things, most links are direct download from the source. NO spyware, no adware. I try to keep a working link here, it does change now and then.
NONAGS ~ Nag-free freeware only
IrfanView ~ One piece of software that I can not live without. Whether you merely want to look at pictures or resize them, or do outrageous things to them, IrfanView is the ultimate tool. You don't need Adobe PhotoBloat to resize your baby pics (that's like using a sledgehammer to drive a half-inch brad anyway lol), or even to take out the red eyes.
Software Paradise ~ Closer to hell if you don't know what you're looking for, but this Hungarian site lists things that even God has forgotten. Not all freeware, DL at your own risk.

Fractovia ~ connect with the whole fractal world here, or the best parts of it, anyway.

MDGX ~ Tweak capital of the world. It's
your computer.
Startups - Contents ~ WTF all those mysterious invisible processes are, and are they necessary? Many programs install a lot of odd bits, processes that start with Windows and waste resources that might be put to better use. Then there are the bad guys. Sort them out and clean up your startups.

the AuelBoard ~ Fans of Jean Auel's Earth's Children" series hang out here to talk and trade tales.
FullBooks ~ Another source of free literature. You don't have to go to the library in nasty weather.

MaksaZone ~ a friendly place, and there are some healthy laughs to be had from the jokes.
Mutts ~ Everyone's favorite critter cartoon strip

~ Another victim of "free" web hosting. Not sure what's to be done about it now...
SwiftHost ROCKS!

Need something else? Voila! Your choice of search engines. Clusty is handy because it organizes the results into "clusters" of related material. That can help you to narrow down your search a little faster sometimes.
All search engines are a little different. They will find a slightly different range of items and your input may be not be applied in the same way. One gets used to using a particular tool, but sometimes it is good to change.
